The new Vauxhall Vivaro van is hitting the road in 2015 as the tour bus for a series of British bands and the second to take the wheel for a UK tour are Dutch Uncles ahead of the release of their fourth album ‘O Shudder’.
Frankie and the Heartstrings launched ‘Vivaro on Tour’ www.vauxhall.co.uk/vivaroontour in partnership with Vauxhall as part of their successful Independent Venue Week tour. Dutch Uncles will now follow in their tyre marks and celebrate their album release with a tour of free-entry, in-store performances; a prelude to their biggest shows to date a few weeks later at Manchester Ritz (March 27th) and London Koko. (April 10th).
Dutch Uncles commented "Starting out as a band is all about DIY, you just have to make do and for us that often meant driving around the north-west in three car convoys. So much of touring is just spent in the van, we’ve had some of our best (and worst) times since, but the first gig where we made that transition to that comfort and safety of a proper tour van felt like a real rite of passage for the band. In the beginning, we always excitedly judged a van by its entertainment system, now it’s on how many cup-holders and plug sockets,"
With O Shudder, Dutch Uncles continue their fascinating, wonky ascent which has seen them play enormodomes with emo punk rock behemoths and self-confessed Dutch Uncles acolytes Paramore, supporting and being supported by likeminded left-field pop adventurers Wild Beasts, Outfit, Field Music, and Everything Everything. The ‘Vivaro on Tour’ campaign has been launched by Vauxhall to help support British bands to tour the UK throughout 2015 and is up for grabs, for free, at www.vauxhall.co.uk/vivaroontour with more bands to be announced soon. The site also features live sessions and behind-the-scenes tour footage, including bands revealing what goes on their rider and more.
Denis Chick, Director of Communications, Vauxhall Motors said, “The UK is renowned for its great pop and rock bands, yet, every successful act has started playing gigs at the diverse array of small and independent venues we have in the UK. Vauxhall has always supported British talent and Vivaro on Tour can hopefully help some of these bands as they start out.”
If you’re a band in need of a van to take on tour in 2015 – the British-built Vivaro is up for grabs. Go to www.vauxhall.co.uk/VivaroOnTour for more information and tweet @Vauxhall using the hashtag #VivaroOnTour.
